Works Well, Even As A Substitute(06.05.2013)
I have a different company's equivalent of this spud's parent boresighter and had bent the .22 spud. I couldn't find a replacement (re-bending wasn't working well) so I thought I'd try this out, reasoning that the spuds should be the same size and point the sight unit to the same grid location since they worked the same way.
I was not disappointed. It fit tight in the barrel (actually, better than the original spud). I tested it against a previously-sighted in scope/barrel combination and all was right on.
I have no reason to believe that subsequent usages will not put the first shots "on the paper".
Bore Spud 17 HMR Savage Bdl.(21.12.2015)
This spud is very, very tight. Would only insert less than an inch, not even touching brass spring. Since most accuracy in a rifle is within crown of barrel, I would not suggest using this spud in the Savage 17HMR.
