Best bang for your buck(12.10.2009)
I have a savage 110 custom in 300 win mag. The recoil generated destroyed one scope in 30rds, Manufacturer flaw, and broke a set of rings. After replacing scope, I decided to try to sight the rifle in. When the rifle was fired, all I could see was blue sky. My rifle weighs in at 16 pounds so recoil was not bad on shoulder, but I could not see impact of bullets. I had this break installed and now I can see the bullet impact on the target. The only down side is my rifle is now really loud and if I shoot prone, anything barrel high, goes flying or flattens out, but no dust raising from directly under it. Recoil was also lightened to that approx. my 243 varmint rifle.
I will get another one(01.04.2012)
This brake is simply the best there is! Second to none! I currently have it on an Armalite AR10 I built in 2008, chambered in 7.62 NATO / .308 Winchester. The rifle is a clone of the Armalite SASS, minus the adjustable gas system. Once completed, the rifle would not shoot any ammo better than 1.5 to 2 MOA, which really bugged me! It originally was wearing a factory Armalite A2-style compensator. Thinking the accuracy issues may have been related to the compensator, I took it off and fired it with no compensator, using several types of factory ammo and my hand-loads. The groups were immediately reduced to 1 MOA or better with 168 Federal Gold Medal Match and several hand-loads. I started to research other types of muzzle brakes/compensators and settled on the OPS Inc. Not that there is much recoil to begin with on an AR10, but this brake took so much recoil out, that once installed, I immediately started to get short-strokes and failures to feed with factory ammo. My hand-loads were fine. A friend who was experiencing similar feeding problems showed me a thread on AR15.com. The writer insisted that an AR10-type rifle should not have more than 29 coils on the recoil spring. Mine had 33. Since the recoil spring is not much money, I started cutting one coil at a time and what do you know, at 29 coils it started cycling fine and has been flawless now for four years. There was absolutely no loss of accuracy with this brake. In fact, accuracy appears to have improved. The rifle now shoots sub-MOA with just about anything, even my hand-loaded M80, 145 grain FMJBT, paper-punching ammo. The M80 load (47 grains of Hodgdon Varget) recently produced a three-shot, rapid-fire group at 300 yards that measured 2.5 inches. The rifle is simply a joy to shoot. Follow up shots are instant and it is very easy to remain on target. I will more than likely put one of these brakes on my 6.8 SPC next!
Awesome brake!(25.04.2016)
I had my gunsmith put this on my Remington Sendero SF II in 300win mag. This brake performed as advertised. The recoil and muzzle rise/flip is greatly reduced. It makes my rifle shoot like my 7mm-08. Also, being able to see the impact of the bullet is really nice.
I have to say, I got what I was expecting. This is my first brake, and I had this installed on my Ruger M77 MKII stainless, chambered in .30-06. I wanted to give the gun a bit of a face-lift, while making it easier to shoot more rounds per session before the pain set in. It worked. I regularly shoot prone off a bipod, and that was how I tested this. In my estimation, felt recoil was reduced by 40%, more importantly, muzzle jump was reduced by 80%, but most importantly, accuracy was just slightly improved. When I shoot, I shoot more than few, and after 45 rounds, the feeling was like that of a .243. The noise level is increased, but, that comes with a brake. I was expecting to receive a crebral hematoma from the muzzle crack, but it was not as bad as expected. It's worth it.
got what i expected!!(01.06.2011)
got this for my Rem. model 700 in 300 WSM. i have to say after about 130 rounds downrange, 50 in one sitting, it was well worth it. felt recoil is on par with a 7mm-08 and noise was not greatly increased. all and all its every bit as good as people say it is. it can be a little tricky to clean though.
Awesome brake!!(28.11.2011)
I just installed this brake on a customers .30-06 build. The rifle weighed 8lbs and the felt recoil was like a .243 or 7mm-08. There was absolutely no muzzle flip! The accuracy was not affected one way or the other, it shot under 1/2" MOA before and after. It looks a little non-traditional but works awesomely!! I highly suggest you consider this brake.
