Sight turret does not lock tight, so the fib eroptic moves and will not stay staight. The sight cannot be adjusted low enough for correct elevation. The adjustment tool is about as cheap as it gets, yet its more expensive. I sent this thing back, don't waste your money on this one
Hmmmm....?(24.07.2012)
I don't know what everyone else's problem was with this sight. Installed mine into a Troy BUIS and it went in fine, adjusts fine, and I am zeroed in where I need to be. Just like the standard front sight that I replaced. Could be a fluk, I don't know, but mine work just fine and as advertised. The other thing, for my old eyes, a great improvement over the standard sight. Fiber optic is easily seen and fast to pick up and acquire.
Nice upgrade for older eyes(01.10.2012)
Installation instruction are well written, just follow the steps as described. Was a little tricky to install with "big" hands, but took my time and didn't get in a hurry and all went well. Really like the improvement of the fiber optic over the stock black post. Installed this front sight on a Rock River A4 Operator. Only change I would have preferred is to have been able to order this post with a factory installed "green" tube. Read the instructions about changing the fiber, might not be a challenge for most people, however I was afraid that I would ruin a post that is working fine, just not "green". Maybe some day I'll have the extra money to spend and I will buy another and see If I can install the green fiber optic successfully and then swap out my red post. I would definitely recommend this sight for anyone who wants to maintain an iron sight set up for their AR.
Great idea, but...(30.11.2012)
I saw this and thought my problems were over with my not-so-visible A2 front sight. Looks like they had a good idea here, but upon installation, I found that I could not get the sight to adjust low enough into the base to be the same as where my old one was sighted in at. Another review said the same thing. (I measured from the top of the sight "wings" to the top of the old sight before installation and it was at .088") With the Sightlink in as far as it would go, I could only get it screwed in to about .060" from the top of the "wings". I even tried removing the detent they supplied and still could only get down to .078". The problem is the height of the Sightlink from the bottom of the bottom shoulder to the top of the sight is about .090" taller than the original sight! This means you will bottom it out .090" sooner than the old sight, which is not enough for me. If they made the blade a bit shorter, this thing would be OK. Another potential problem is that the red fiber optic portion is only bright when light is shining onto it from the top, where it is exposed. It works great when you have plenty of light, but this won't be much better than the stock sight under low-light conditions at the shooter's end. (I could probably have lived with this if it would have installed properly).
junk!!!(31.12.2013)
Installed--looked good---went to range and it has way to much play in the top section allowing the rod to move to the left and right while shooting!!! The detent does not even touch the sides allowing almost .060 of movement---took back to the dealer--it is on the way back to Brownells!!
